The Kids Are Alright! Honoring the New Kids (Grown Ups)

Switching gears all together – though interestingly, the discussion about Emergent Church falls short unless we are talking about the subject of today’s blog – the New Grownups.  The purpose of today’s blog is to learn who the New Growups are and how we can best support them in meeting their need to find meaning, purpose and connection in a world where they often feel out of place and unwelcome.

The Kids are Alright!

The New Grown Ups are our future.  They are here to heal and change the world!

The New Kids (Grown Ups) are some of my most favorite peeps!  As one of them, I understand their nature, their drive, their passion and most importantly, their struggles.  Some have turned to labeling these amazing new humans respectively: Indigo Children, Crystal, Rainbow and any other variety of colorful names.   I was at first tempted to call them “the New Kids,” but after consulting several professionals on the topic, we agreed that these folks are anything but kids – in fact, they were born grownups, knowing what the world is supposed to be like and how to act in that world.  It is for this reason, that I am choose to call them the “New Grownups,” and I want everyone to understand that these grown ups are alright!

Below I will identify the New Grown Ups through some common characteristics, though perhaps the easiest way to communicate this is through a song that I believe might just be their anthem:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0gtzHJphVg

Who Are the New Grown Ups?

While there is no exhaustive list of characteristics which describe the New Grown Ups, and these characteristics may vary among them, there are some general trends worth noting.  In general, the New Grown Ups are:

  • Born with a deep sense that they are here for a reason, that there is something they are here to do.
  • Born with a profound inner knowing of what the world is supposed to be like and dramatically and negatively affected when they witness or experience a world other than what they know is supposed to be.
  • Dumbfounded that others don’t understand and expect the world to be as they know it should be and that no one seems to be doing anything about it.
  • Questioning themselves because of the contrast between what they know and what others seem to know and believe.  This questioning creates in them a great deal of anxiety, stress and they often lose sleep over this.
  • Experiencing a great amount of angst—over the state of the world, the environment, politics, and all of the above mentioned, and often feel helpless (even hopeless) about it.
  • Restlessly discontent over all of the above – a discontent that is not satisfied until they are working toward the creation of the world they know in their hearts, their minds and their beings.
  • Growing cynical over all of the above while maintaining their own idealism.
  • Extremely sensitive to their environment, picking up the feelings and emotions of others, feeling like it is their job to fix things.  Also sensitive to world events – weather, natural disasters, human disasters, war, etc.
  • Struggling with anxiety, depression, panic attack, sleeplessness, insomnia.
  • Creatively driven with an active mind.
  • Frequently labeled as ADD or ADHD, EBD, ODD, etc.
  • Struggling with authority—feeling it has to be earned, not assumed.
  • Fiercely independent, don’t fit in with old systems of education, government, religion, etc., knowing a better way to do these things.
  • Often drawn to nature. Feel more grounded and whole after spending time in nature.
  • Not interested in the current Western paradigm of materialism and consumerism.
  • Struggling or did struggle in school. May have had trouble getting and holding a job.
  • Drawn to recreational drugs, may have struggled with addictions.

And finally, the New Grown ups are PISSED OFF!  You would be too if you were born into a world that, for the most part, does not understand you and which certainly does not appreciate your gifts.  In the driving, striving, achieving, accumulating, destructive, wasteful Western world, the New Grown Ups look like apathetic slackers.  But, I can tell you that there is no one on the planet who has worked harder to survive than the New Grown Ups.  Simply staying alive in a world that is trying to destroy them has been their lifelong mission – and sadly, for many, they died trying.

Wake Up New Grown Ups, We Need You!

The time for dying, however, has come to an end.  The world is finally ready for their gifts, (albeit kicking and screaming). The New Grow Ups are waking up,  and I, for one, am ecstatic!  Thank you New Grown Ups for being born in this place and in this time. We desperately need you, your gifts, and the vision of a new world that you were sent to create.

Starting Monday, July 7, 2014, I will be offering a support group for New Grown Ups as they are waking up and discerning their mission.

Calling all the “Different” Ones

Have you always felt “different,” like you didn’t quite fit in, but have always known, on a very deep level, that you are here for a special purpose and that perhaps the time for that purpose is drawing near?  If so……this one is for you.  Your time is now.  The world needs you to wake up, to share your gifts and to start creating our world anew!  Wake up!  Wake up!  We need you and your amazing, magical, miraculous gifts!  And, we need you to find each other, to come together in communities to heal our world and to turn our world from fear to love.  This is the purpose you have been waiting for and the time is now!

orion

We Are Living in an Important Time

I believe that we are currently living in a critically important time in the history of humankind and our beloved planet, Earth.  We are at a crossroads.  Depending on which path we choose, we are either headed for our demise, or the manifestation of heaven on earth.  My hope and belief is that our choice will lead us toward the latter, but in order to get there, we have to wake up, we have to help others wake up, and we have to do so QUICKLY!

The Different Ones

As I have mentioned before, I believe that EACH OF US has a unique, important and critical contribution to make toward the betterment of our world and that in discovering and sharing these gifts, we find joy, peace, love and fulfillment.  I have also learned that there is a unique group of humans, who have a unique set of gifts and will have a very unique contribution to make toward the manifestation of heaven on earth. These are the men, women and children who have been sent here to wake us up and to show us our way home, ushering us into a place where we will once again dwell in peace on a planet ruled by love.  For lack of any better word, and only for the sake of making a point, I am calling these people “The Different Ones.”  And I will bet my life that you already know who you are.  But, if you need some help remembering, or an affirmation of your differentness and specialness, here are some of the unique characteristics and experiences held by “The Different Ones.”

  • You have always known, in a very deep knowing, that you were different, perhaps even special.
  • You never felt as if you fit in with the regular world or society.  Perhaps you even felt like a stranger in your own home, wondering who these people were and what God did with your real family. You definitely felt like a stranger in the traditional institutions – school, church, work, etc.
  • As a child, you found yourself drawn to the mystical, magical, the world of fairies, angels, fantasy, miracles, etc.  Perhaps you believed in magic and knew, in some deep level of your being that you could do magic or at the very least, facilitate or participate in the making of something miraculous.
  • As a young child, and maybe again near puberty, you had experiences, communications, etc. with “other realms.”  Perhaps you saw or spoke with “angels,” God, saints, the deceased.  Maybe you could see dead people.  You knew these other places/beings were real – but when you shared these experiences with others, they were discounted as the workings of an overactive imagination.
  • You were very sensitive as a child and most likely still are as an adult.  You could “feel” the energy of a room, you could “feel” other people’s energies, perhaps even their thoughts.  You found yourself repelled by some people and situations based on no other information than “a feeling” and in contrast, found yourself inexplicably drawn to some people and places, because of a “feeling.”
  • You may have been sickly as a child – sensitive to the environment, ultra-sensitive to human-made chemicals, fabrics, etc.  You found yourself sensitive to light, sound, chaotic spaces, technology, etc.  It seemed anything that was not purely organic, nature-made, somehow made you ill or if nothing else, made you feel “icky.”
  • You had/have a strange way of being able to “read” people.  Specifically, you could detect truth vs. deceit and found you had no tolerance for the latter.  This often caused problems in relationships as people discovered your ability and grew uncomfortable under your gaze (even if this happened subconsciously….as it usually does.)
  • You have a keen sense of knowing that you are here for a special purpose and feel driven to pursue this purpose – often not even knowing what this purpose is, no matter how irrational this drive may appear to the “real” world.
  • You have always possessed a different way of viewing and experiencing the world.  You believe in the goodness of the world, in justice, in the right of all to be loved and cared for.  You have a deep drive to pursue the course of peace and justice and you will defend the rights of those who have none.
  • You may have a profound affinity with nature and the night sky.  You feel drawn to the earth and to the stars and find comfort there.
  • You are known by a “look” in your eyes and you know others like you through that same “look.”  There have been people in your life with whom you felt an immediate connection along with a deep knowing that this is someone like you, someone from your true “family” and someone you can trust and love without condition. These are people with whom you have an immediate and enduring affinity.
  • And here’s my favorite one “you seem to be born with a different set of rules, values and laws to abide by.  Actions that were perfectly acceptable for everyone else are harmful to you, while you are able to do things that are not permitted most of humanity. (Solara, 2012)”

No Mistaking it, You Are Different

There are a million terms which have been tossed around to categorize those who feel “different” – Indigo children, Crystal children, Rainbow children, Slackers, Starseeds, Wayshowers, Lightworkers, Healers, Star Borne, Star Children, etc. etc. etc.   Ultimately, names mean nothing, but what is important is that YOU KNOW that you have been sent here for a special purpose and that this purpose is to help usher in THE NEW WORLD.  Your ways are different because the world needs to be different.  Your ways are more sensitive, more loving, more justice-oriented, because the world needs to evolve toward this or it will destroy itself.  AND YOU ARE NOT ALONE!  In fact, there are millions like you waiting to wake up, waiting to connect and waiting to GET TO WORK.

I’ll Tell You a Little Secret

I’m sharing this with you, because all of the above characteristics are true of me and I have found a whole slew of men and women who also possess these gifts.  I have also found that the unique gifts I have been given are:

1) To wake people up. (I can’t help it, it just happens)

2) To help you overcome the inner obstacles to being and living your purpose.

3) To empower you to connect with others like you and to work together toward bringing forth our gifts for the betterment of the world.

So….toward the goal of item #3, please feel free to connect with other ones like you through the Authentic Freedom Facebook Page.  Start a conversation.  Make some connections.  And let’s get to work making the world a more loving, peaceful and harmonious place!

Love,

Lauri

Mystics are Not Normal

Hee hee.  I love reading the words that people “google” that end up leading them to my website.  Every once in awhile, these words stir me to write more on the topic for which they are seeking.  Today, the phrase that struck me was, “Mystics are not normal.”  Therefore, this will be the topic of today’s blog.

The Ecstasy of St. Teresa
The Ecstasy of St. Teresa

No We Are Not

Normal, that is.  🙂  You probably already have a pretty good idea that you might be a mystic if you are reading this blog, and if you don’t already know, here are a few clues:

  • Mystics see the world through a different set of eyes
  • Mystics hear with a different set of ears.
  • Mystics sense and have most likely had experiences or encounters that suggest there is a world beyond our own.
  • Mystics may have a fully developed relationship with a world beyond the world that we can touch, taste, feel, hear and see with our physical senses.
  • Mystics tend to be heaven-bent on bringing heaven to earth (or whatever their unique language is for making the earth into a loving, peaceful, abundant place).
  • Mystics are changemakers, shit-disturbers, way-showers, pioneers, and prophets.
  • Mystics are NOT received favorably by those who prefer the status quo or by those whose life, power, wealth, status, etc. depend on the current paradigm or way of being.
  • Mystics can often see the truth beyond illusions, hear the truth beyond the words and possess a vision of the highest potential of humankind.
  • Mystics are often also prophets – they are able to read the sign of the times and “predict” the direction in which things will continue to unfold.

In her introduction to the Poems of St. John of the Cross, P.J. Kavanagh defines the way of the mystic as “this search of the soul for union with God, and of God with the soul. (Peers, 2000, p. 17)”  My experience is that this is what ultimately distinguishes a mystic from others who might be wearing the costume or speaking the language of a mystic but who in truth have no interest in God (remember, my definition of “God” greatly transcends the “Old Man in the Sky.”)  An interesting note about normal, however…I’m not sure if it is because we have many more ways of connecting than our ancestors did, but it seems to me as if there are an enormous number of mystics walking the face of Mother Earth today.  Mystics, it seems, are coming out of the woodwork and those who have been asleep are waking up.  With the arrival of the so-called “Indigo, Crystal, Rainbow, etc.” children, it seems as if this is what God/dess intended.  The mystics I know have been planted with a vision of a new earth and are driven to work toward making this vision real.  As such, I sometimes wonder if being a mystic will soon be the new normal.  I guess time will tell. 🙂

Lauri Lumby has worked with hundreds of men and women in their journey of waking up to their highest potential and has helped them to birth their Soul – the uniquely creative way in which they have been gifted to find meaning, purpose and connection in their lives and the way in which they have been gifted to serve the betterment of humankind.

Waking Up in the New World

Today’s blog is for EVERYONE.  The world is changing, the universe is changing, the sun’s poles are flipping, and in the midst of all this change, we get to decide…….old world or new world?  The choice is up to us.  Today’s blog explores the consequence(s) of staying in the old world and the Why and How we might choose the new world instead.

"Wake up! Wake up!"
“Wake up! Wake up!”

Old World

The old world is the world that the human species has been living in for the past 5000 or so years.  It is a world rooted in patriarchy which elevates the masculine principle while demonizing the feminine.  It is a hierarchical world in which decisions are made from the top down by those in power, and usually in not very loving ways.  The old world is one that manipulates through fear and intimidation.  Power, control and wealth are TAKEN by the few while the rest suffer in silence, made mute by their feelings of powerlessness.  The old world is one in which the seven deadly compulsions reign – gluttony, lust (power-over), wrath, envy, greed, sloth and pride and where “success” comes through ceaseless striving, manipulation and force.  Unless you exist within the (less than) 1%, the old world feels constricting, painful, fearful, limiting, and your life is therefore defined by feelings of anxiety, depression, frustration, impatience and longing.

New World

The new world, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of what we have known for the past 5000+ years.  The new world is rooted in love, known by peace and lived out in harmonious cooperation.  The new world is neither patriarchal nor matriarchal, but is instead rooted in egalitarianism – where masculine and feminine (and everything in between) are valued as unique and equal.  Decisions are made through collaboration and arrived at through consensus and are made to meet the higher good of the all.  In the new world, each and every person is valued as uniquely creative expressions of the Divine and are honored for their own unique giftedness and empowered to contribute their part in the betterment of the world.  In the new world, all that we have used to separate will fall away and all will be honored as sacred and unique.

Continuing to Choose the Old World

Because we have been gifted with the power of freewill, we may continue to choose the old world.  We can continue to choose anxiety, constriction, longing, impatience, frustration and for many….failure.  For some, this will indeed be their path.  For those who were placed on this planet to envision and help support the creation of the new world however, continuing to choose the old world will only lead to their demise. If you have been gifted with a vision of the new world and feel called to help make it happen (lightworkers, wayshowers, starseeds, indigo children, crystal children, rainbow children, galactic federation of light, ascension, kundalini), the Universe will conspire in your favor to make this happen.  If you have been gifted with the vision of a new world – and feel called to help make it real and if you are facing your own demise or coming against one obstacle after another after another, your relationships are a sea of conflict,  or you are seeing the world you have tried to create crumbling in your hands, there is a reason for this.  The harder things get for you, be assured that the more the Universe is trying to wake you up to your vision and your call.  As such, if the world you are living in is filled with conflict, struggle and catastrophe, you might want to reexamine your choices.  Perhaps you have been unwittingly choosing the old world instead of the new.

Choosing the Old or Living in the New?

The hardest thing in the world is choosing the NEW world because all we have known and been taught is how to choose the old.   Old habits die hard.  Choosing the old world or living in the new are distinguished from each other in  a number of ways.

The old world is:

  • ruled by the ego
  • where decisions are made in fear
  • known by a constant inner state of anxiety
  • characterized by striving and pushing to “make things happen”
  • known by the quest for power and control
  • where people feel limited, constricted, ignored, insignificant, unsatisfied
  • defined by separation – gender, orientation, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, race, etc.
  • rife with conflict, struggle, suffering, discord, etc.

the new world is:

  • ruled by the Divine within
  • known where decisions are not made but arise naturally out of our connection with the Divine
  • where life is allowed to happen and to unfold in a gentle, effortless way
  • known in generous sharing and equal participation
  • where people experience a life that is fulfilling, rewarding, sustaining, abundant, life-giving, joyful, peaceful and loving
  • defined by oneness

Living in the new world is made possible when we commit ourselves to the following:

  • A disciplined spiritual practice (which I define rather widely) through which we take time aside to be quiet, listen for and be open to hearing and believing the voice of the Divine within us.
  • Disciplined attention to and healing of one’s own fears, compulsions, projections, etc.
  • Management of our shadow.  When we confront our own demons, we stop projecting them on to others.
  • Exploration of our own unique giftedness, followed by the cultivation and generous sharing of these gifts in an environment where are gifts are readily and enthusiastically received and where we experience the abundant fruits of our labors.
  • In a nutshell – disciplined attention to our own journey of spiritual, emotional, mental and physical growth.
  • And finally…..LOVE.  Loving ourselves first so that we may then reflect love to others, igniting in them the spark of wanting to remember the love that they are and setting them on the journey as outlined above.

Choosing the New World

Choosing the new world is not an easy task, primarily because in choosing love we have to overcome 5000+ years of conditioning, not to mention our own fears and inner resistance.  However, if we have been gifted with a vision of the new world, along with the call to make it happen, we don’t really have a choice – unless, however, we want to continue to live in misery.  Please note, that this is true not only for individuals, but also for institutions which have also been gifted with this vision and this call.  The call is the same – “Wake up, Wake up”  It is time to awaken to your call and time to bring forth the new world.
