Living in the 5D World – Learning from Harry Potter

I’m not sure if JK Rowling fully realized what she was bringing forth in writing the Harry Potter series, though I suspect she may have.  In creating the tales of Harry and his friends, especially the interactions between the wizard and muggle worlds, JK Rowling’s work is nothing short of prophecy.  In her portrayal of a world within a world, she described in perfectly accurate detail how the 3D and 5D worlds coexist.  For those of us who have been wondering what it will be like to live in unity consciousness while the world around us continues to live in duality, the answer has been right in front of us since 1997 when Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first published in the United Kingdom (the title was later changed to “Sorcerer’s Stone” for U.S. release).  I was reminded of Harry Potter as the answer to this quandary while re-watching the movies this past weekend.  Let me offer a few examples:

Completely Separate Worlds in the Same World: In Harry Potter, the wizarding world is whole unto itself. They have their own villages, railroad service, means of transportation (portkeys, brooms, kestrels, hippogriffs, phoenixs, flue powder, etc.), academic institutions, restaurants, homes in the country, hotels, governmental establishments, etc..  At the same time, the wizarding world is RIGHT HERE in the 3D world.  Present, yet invisible to those living in the 3D world (muggles).  This is how it is in 5D.  We are living in our own world.  Creating our own “villages,” ways of doing business, means of transportation, etc. yet we are smack dab in the middle of the 3D world.  Sometimes we are seen and sometimes we interact with 3D, but often we are invisible – at least to those still living in duality consciousness.  WE decide how and where we will be seen, but in many cases, our function is separate (but impactful) from 3D.

Conscious Evolution: In the portrayal of muggles becoming wizards, JK Rowling demonstrates the way in which we are evolving past 3D consciousness into 5D.  For example, when Hermione Granger, a muggle-born, is discovered to have magical abilities, she (and her parents) are invited into consciousness of and interaction with the wizarding world.   This is how it has been for us.  We are muggles who have realized our wizarding gifts.  We know there is more to life than living in fear and are consciously choosing otherwise.  This choice opens us up to the magical gifts of LOVE and we are transformed along with those around us and the world in which we live suddenly becomes much vaster than what we had previously known.  We are now able to go between worlds – simply as a matter of choice and knowing how to make that choice (ie: Platform 9 ¾).

The Role of 5D in the 3D World: Finally, JK Rowling shows us the benevolent role played by the world of unity consciousness. As shown in the Harry Potter films, the wizarding world has a positive impact on the muggle world through its power to overcome the darkness (think of the storms and violence brought on my Voldemort that are experienced in the muggle world and how the “good” wizards correct this by conquering Voldemort).   In conquering Voldemort (the quintessential representation of choosing fear over love), the world is restored to order and peace and this is felt in both the wizarding and muggle worlds.  Again, this is how it is and has been with us.  As we are awakening to our own gifts, our world is transformed and the rest of the world with us.  When we choose love over fear, we are not only helping ourselves, we are helping the entire world.  In achieving our own 5D (unity consciousness) world, we are helping move the 3D world beyond fear into its own inherent truth of LOVE.

Thank you JK Rowling for being the prophet that you are and showing us through Harry and friends what it is like to live in unity consciousness while residing in the 3D world. My sense is that if you wrote a continuation of the Harry Potter tales, it would be about wizards helping the muggle world wake up to their own inherent magic and teaching them how to embrace their gifts so that the world might no longer be made of those who normally live in fear and make choices based in fear, but of those who choose love and live their life accordingly.  Or….maybe I’ll write these books myself!  😉

10 Ways We Are Like Hogwarts!

Authentic Freedom Academy isn’t any old academic institution.  We don’t teach history or ‘rithmetic; instead, we offer programs and services in support of your journey of self-actualization.  The roots of our work are in education, psychology and spirituality and the pillars are mindfulness, creativity and active imagination.  The end result is transformation and empowerment.  No, this work isn’t for everyone….but it is for the strong and courageous, the brave and insane, and those who believe there is more to life than Kanye and Kim and what might be reported on Fox News.   In short, Authentic Freedom Academy is a lot like Hogwarts.  Let me show you how:

1) Here there be MAGIC!

Life is a miracle and fantastically magical. Our desire is to help you see that magic!

2) We solemnly swear we are up to ALL GOOD!

To those attached to status quo, things as they are, a fearful, materialistic world, then it might look like we are entirely up to no good…….but for those with magic in their hearts and who can see past the illusion…’s all good!

3) Mischief Managed! Every day.

Giving you the tools you need to overcome the inner and perceived external obstacles to your own magical magnificence!

4) Platform 9 ¾:

The only way to get here is to close your eyes, point your luggage cart in the direction of that brick wall in front of you, run and TRUST.

5) Defense Against the Dark Arts:

Yes, there is darkness in our world. Fear too. We help you name those fears and give you tools for transcending them.

6) Lord Voldemort:

We all have an inner adversary – that voice of fear that keeps us small and seeks to keep us from the magical purpose for which we were born. We help you distinguish this voice from the voice of your Truth and give you tools for quieting “He who must not be named” so that you can hear the still, quiet, voice of your own SOUL.

7) Pensieve:

Through mindfulness, creativity and active imagination practices, we help you remember and retrieve the forgotten pieces of your Soul.

8) Fantastical Creatures:

Why can’t there be dragons, pixies, mermaids, talking pictures, griffins, giants and shapeshifters? In the world of magic….all things are possible….and everything we can imagine is here to teach us about ourselves. Here, we embrace them.

9) Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore:

Each and every person is uniquely gifted and called to be a source of love and transformation in the world. Our teachers and guides are here to help you find yours.

10) Harry Potter of course!

We all need our heroes – those who have gone before us in search of their inner treasure and who have found it. We look to the great spiritual teachers of our human (and non-human) past to learn how to get there!

Dealing with Midlife and Menopause….The Map

Midlife Crisis, Menopause, Perimenopause, whatever name you call it – the purpose is the same.  The purpose of midlife, menopause and perimenopause (if we are paying attention) is to assist us in the birth of our Soul.  Soul is the uniquely creative way in which we have been gifted to find meaning, purpose, connection and fulfillment in our lives and through which we are called to serve the betterment of our world.  The midlife journey consists of a complex, twisted, path which is everything but linear and once we think we have accomplished a certain task, healed a particular wound, it comes back again for another layer of healing.  In preparation for my upcoming course, Surviving Midlife, I have created a visual which demonstrates the labyrinthine journey of midlife (menopause and perimenopause).  In the spirit of Harry Potter, I call it the Marauding Midlife Map….because we often feel like thieves in the night as we sneak around trying to find our way through the midlife challenges (and opportunities).  The good news is that the more we surrender to the process of midlife, the more we can proudly proclaim, (again in Harry Potter Style)  “Mischief Managed!”

PS:  I provide support for men and women in the birth of their Soul.  Call (920) 230-1313 or email to find out more!

The Spiritual Practice of Endurance

Today’s blog explores the spiritual practice of endurance and the virtue of faith – what to do when our life takes an unexpected and undesired turn.

Unexpected Turns

Sometimes live throws us an unexpected curveball, throwing us not only off our game, but sometimes out of the game entirely.  When this happens, we have no choice but to JUST KEEP WALKING, trusting there is a reason to what might seem like madness.  As I was contemplating today’s blog, the following quote showed up in my email inbox and I thought it couldn’t have shown up at a better time:

Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy to finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one area where I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realized, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter, and a big idea. And so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.
—J. K. Rowling, Harvard commencement address, 2008

WOW!  When everything she had known and come to rely on was stripped from her life, JK Rowling scrutinized her life to uncover what really mattered to her – her daughter and her story (for those who might not know, Harry Potter!).  She did the only thing she could do….she showed up every day to her daughter and to her story.  She endured and she trusted. I bet she wondered on days if she were crazy for pursing a big idea in a pond of a million other big ideas and if anyone would give a damn about HER big idea.  But, in spite of these wonderings, she showed up.  She kept writing. The good news is that someone did give a damn about her big idea and now the rest is herstory!  😉

We’re not all JK Rowling

No, we are not all here to pen the next best selling novel.  But…..each of us are uniquely gifted to reveal love, peace, compassion, justice, mercy, forgiveness, beauty, creative expression, nurturing, service in the world in some way.  God seeks to be known in the world through each and every one of us….and sometimes we have to GET OUT OF OUR OWN WAY in order for God to break through and be made known.  When the world that we have known collapses around our ears, as it did for JK Rowling, we can believe that something amazing is trying to be born.  When everything we have thought ourselves to be falls away, when every hope, dream, vision disappears in a puff of smoke, when we find ourselves on our knees begging for mercy because the world we have been living in has been pulled out from beneath our feet, we can expect that God wants to be made known through us in ways that perhaps we had never before imagined.  The challenge for us, however, is that while we cling to surety and find perceived security in knowing the plan and the outcome, this is not how it works – as JK Rowling can attest.  Instead, we have to stand there naked, stripped of everything we have known and TRUST that something is happening.

What to Do in the Meantime

The good news is that there is something we can do while we are standing there naked and working really hard at hoping and trusting.   The one thing we can do is ENDURE.  In other words….show up and keep walking.  JK Rowling had a typewriter, an idea and a coffee shop where she could write her idea.  What is the universe giving you?  Perhaps it is a job to show up to each day.  Perhaps it is a paintbrush and canvas.  Maybe it is a child to hold and friends to support you.  Maybe it is a big idea.  Whatever it is….SHOW UP to that….no matter how hard that might seem on some days.  Show up…show up….show up….and keep showing up.  Breathe.  Pray.  Get mad if you need to, grieve what you have lost…then show up again.  And like a seed that in the darkness mysteriously blossoms, you will find that your own seed too will blossom in time.
