When Evil Comes Out to Play

9/1/20

Good morning sisters and brothers.  After a rough couple days, I awoke this morning feeling somewhat back to my abnormal self.  🙂  The energy for the past few days has been exceedingly disruptive and I found myself caught up in the yuk – not on purpose – I just couldn’t NOT feel the tremor of fear that raged across our planet.  A certain someone is supposed to pay a visit to Kenosha, Wisconsin today and there is much trepidation about the increasing division that his words might ignite.  I am roughly 100 miles from Kenosha, in Oshkosh, WI so the anxiety is palpable.

This anxiety is simply one more symptom in a long line of symptoms of our dying world.  That which has been hiding in the shadows (racism, classism, supremacy cults, the dark web, organized hate groups, violence, hatred, ignorance, etc. etc. etc.) continues to come out to be seen and it is HORRIBLE.  The potential for evil that dwells within humanity is appearing to be infinite.  And for those “of the good,” IT IS EXHAUSTING and disheartening.

In the face of all this evil, it is good to remember, this is nothing new!  This evil and hatred for “the (perceived) other” has always been present.  We simply live at a time that has fed these evils and that has allowed them to thrive – albeit in the darkness. Then a few years back something happened that invited them all to come out and play – and be seen.  On many days, it seems as if a war is waging in the heavens between “the evil” and “the good” and we are the unwitting pawns in this game. I can assure you, such is not the case, but knowing this doesn’t change how it feels.  We are definitely experiencing the depths of the YUK.  The sad thing is that this is a YUK of our own making and has absolutely nothing to do with that which some might call “God.”

This is why I often say, “Human beings suck.  I’m glad I’m not one of them.”  I say this (somewhat) tongue in cheek – but in many ways this is true.  Human beings, while perfect as Divine creations, are also broken and flawed.  Broken by the original wound of separation and then further broken by other wounded human beings.  We are all wounded in some way – some are simply wounded more than others.  What we call “evil” is the consequence of unacknowledged and unhealed brokenness.  This means that the “evil” can be healed.

When I look out over our broken world and ponder the healing of all this evil, I become overwhelmed and shutdown.  It seems an impossible task.  (It is an impossible task) I have learned that the world is not mine to heal.  I used to think it was, but not anymore.  I have come to understand that the only person we can truly heal is OURSELVES.  Part of healing ourselves includes letting go of all the things outside of ourselves we believe we are responsible for healing.  Like the story of the oxygen masks on airplanes.  If the plane is going down, you have to grab your own mask first before helping your neighbor with theirs.

Saving ourselves does not mean we do not have compassion for our dying world.  Neither does it mean we refuse assistance for those seeking help.  We help the world heal itself by first healing ourselves.  As we do this, those close to us begin to heal and transform.  The more authentic and whole we are with ourselves, the more those around us feel safe to do the same.  This healing begins to ripple out from us to the people we meet, the encounters we have in the world and the gifts we share with those who are ready to receive.  Saving the world begins by saving ourselves and keeping the focus on our own healing and wellbeing.  The rest simply unfolds from there.

This doesn’t mean that Lauri Lumby in Oshkosh Wisconsin by her simple acts of kindness will get a white supremacist to lay down his gun, but it might inspire the next generation to look for non-violent ways to resolve perceived conflict, or to work to eradicate the social injustices that inspire hate in the first place.  At the end of the day, all the angry voices are simply people who did not feel seen or heard somewhere along the way or who did not get their basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, safety and love adequately met.  Angry and hateful people are simply very sad people in disguise.

As the world (as we have known it) continues in its death march, growing louder and more angry as it reaches its ultimate demise, we would do well for ourselves to remember a few things:

  • Keep our head down!
  • Stay out of the fray!
  • Heal ourself!
  • Care for our own!
  • When tempted to meet hate with hate, remember the deep woundedness that created all this evil and PRAY FOR THEM!

When facing times like these, I find myself drawn back to my Catholic roots, especially to the intercession (support) of the saints.  Mother Mary, in particular is one I turn to.  When invoking her support, I pray these words.  Perhaps you will feel inspired to do the same:

Hail Mary, Full of Grace.

Love is with you.

Blessed art thou among women

And Blessed is the fruit of your Love.

Holy Mary, Mother of Love.

Pray for us.

Now and at the hour or our death.

Amen.

Surviving the Shit Show!

Last night we had a ZOOM gathering of the Authentic Freedom community and we discussed the coming 6-9 months and what is likely on tap for our world.  You don’t have to be a prophet to see what is up ahead, though those who gathered are prophets in their own right.  You also don’t have to be an astrologer, but astrology is certainly confirming what many of us already intuitively know.  Really, anyone with eyes to see and a splash of logic can see what is happening……and while there is GREAT GOOD getting ready to emerge, things are likely to get a whole lot worse before they get better.

This is what we can prepare for in the coming months (and if it doesn’t come to pass, then we are no worse off for having approached the coming months with caution and lots of support):

  • Just today the President threw out the proposal to delay the November election. Funny (not funny) thing is that we spoke about EXACTLY THIS last night.  While the President doesn’t have the power to act alone in this decision, that hasn’t stopped him in the past…..so be ready for this very real possibility.
  • SHUT DOWNS. I am 100% certain we will be facing another shutdown in the fall/early winter related to Covid 19.  If not a government mandated shutdown we will at least be seeing schools and businesses making difficult decisions for themselves around how to stay safe and keep their staff, etc. safe with a virus raging.  My “spidey senses” tell me that Covid is going to get a lot worse before it gets better and we STILL don’t have the appropriate measures in place for proper prevention and treatment.  Masks certainly help, but try keeping a mask on a 5 year old!
  • More rioting. Civil unrest is not likely to halt.  People are pissed off – and rightly so.  Yes, there are some who are simply rioting for rioting’s sake, but underneath the chaos is hundreds of years of oppression trying to find its way out.  This oppression is not simply about race, it is about gender, sex, poverty, homelessness, lack of adequate resources, etc. etc. etc.  in the so-called “land of freedom,” people are waking up to all the ways in which they are not truly free.  In case you haven’t figured it out yet, we are in the middle of a revolution – one that is sorely needed.
  • Martial Law: This term has been thrown around a lot lately, but not from a place of hype. This term has surfaced from among those I know who are “in the know.”  Those who are former military or closely connected with the military who understand how and under what conditions martial law is ordered.  What does this actually mean in a nation as geographically expansive?  I imagine it will be a bit of a shit show – one hand not really knowing what the other is doing and people making it up as they go along.
  • Economic Collapse I’ve been predicting this for a LONG TIME! The U.S. economy is already a house of cards and the first Covid shut down initiated a market crash, the likes of which this generation has never seen.  But it’s not even close to being over.  Don’t even bother hoarding your cash, because when the bottom truly falls out, even your hoarded cash won’t have any value.

As in every single time I receive a prophetic message that looks bleak, I hope and pray that these visions will not come to pass.  But so far I’m batting a thousand.  So just in case my intuitive sense (reason and logic) are on-point, here is what you can do to prepare yourself and your loved ones so that you can survive the coming months and be made ready for the new world that will begin to show itself sometime early next year.

  • GOOD NEWS AHEAD know that there is good coming out of the current and future disaster. We are truly witnessing the death of an empire so that something new can take its place.  We don’t yet know what that new is, but it will involved new models of everything we have known:  governance, finance, banking, religion, healthcare, education, commerce, etc. etc. etc.  The new promises to be more just, more equitable, more compassionate and more harmonious.  But what is and has been first has to die before the new can begin to come forth.
  • SELF CARE SELF CARE SELF CARE I cannot say this enough! DO EVERYTHING that helps you stay healthy and emotionally well.  And then do it some more.    Exercise.  Healthy food choices.  Fresh air.  Community.  Meditation.  Spiritual Practices.  Spend time in nature.  Creative activities. Massage.  Body work.  Acupuncture. Dance.  Sing.  Netflix and chill!  Do it and do it some more.  YOU are your first priority.
  • Loved ones get priority: Forget the world “out there” and its pressure to conform. DO WHAT IS RIGHT for yourself and your loved ones.  For example, if that means doing virtual learning with your kids this school year, then do it.
  • Reach out to others: For example: Don’t forget the family next door who might not have the freedom to do virtual learning but wants to.  If you are supporting your kids in virtual learning, reach out to a working family and see if their kids need support.  During shutdown, if you know of someone who cannot leave their house for food, but you can, offer to help.  We can do these things safely.
  • Gather Your Doomsday Team gather around you those who you trust to be a source of support. RECIPROCITY is critical at this time.  We all need those we can go to when the bottom falls out and those who we are open to supporting when the same happens for them.  We have been conditioned to give, give, give, but not to receive.  The new world begins with reciprocity, and it starts by insisting on this in our own lives.
  • SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT Support can come in any number of ways!  Online groups, communities, podcasts, etc.  Find those of like mind and hang with them.  Attend their gatherings.  Join their groups.  ACCEPT the support.

In short, YOU ARE NOT ALONE in this and there are a million ways we can support ourselves and each other as we move through this insanity of a world in its own collapse.

Toward that end:  If you haven’t already, please consider membership with the Authentic Freedom community.  Learn more HERE  For the remainder of the year, I am making all offerings available for every membership level.  Please allow yourself to accept this support.

Facing the Death of the Global Empire

As an empath, shadow worker, Reiki master practitioner and energy healer, I am often called to stop whatever I am doing and send healing energy/intentions and prayers to someone or something in need.  This morning was one of those times.  I was at the yoga studio intending to do my Monday morning yoga practice when my body became completely immobilized.  I found that my body could only sit with my hands held in Reiki position.

As in the times I am sharing Reiki professionally with those who need it, as I was holding the Reiki position, I began to see images and receive feelings of who/what needed this healing.  I was not surprised to learn that it was the world.  The people of the world are afraid and justifiably so.  The global empire is collapsing, and it is the United States which is at the center (perhaps even the cause and the effect) of its demise.

My purpose here is not to provide a political discourse on the global history of conquest or man’s (gender intentional) competition for power.  It is to speak to those who are afraid because whether they are aware of it or not, the world around them is dying. I’ve been seeing the symptoms of this collapse and have written about it for years.  In a nutshell – that which was established on a model of fear/power/oppression and control is collapsing.  And THANK GOD/DESS.  We are facing the inevitable end of an unsustainable system.  And if the system doesn’t destroy itself, the human race will be facing its own destruction.  So yes, this is a necessary (for our survival) death and many, if not most, are ill-equipped to identify, let alone manage, the inherent human response to death.

For those who are familiar with the grieving process, we are witnessing a collective grief response.  This explains every over-reaction we are witnessing in American culture:

  • Increasing attention to the shadow aspects of our culture (racism, sexism, genderism, nationalism, religionism, etc. etc. etc.)
  • (violent ones especially).
  • The ongoing argument over mask or no mask.
  • Real news vs. fake news vs. conspiracy theories.
  • And just the simple increasing division among human beings. When everyone seems to be taking sides, you can bet we are facing the death of something.

All of these proportionate and disproportionate (especially the disproportionate) reactions are quite simply a collective response to death.  If there is one thing that death does to us is trigger our need to have control; and if there is one thing we know about death – WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL.

We are not in control of the death of the global empire.  We cannot stop it.  We cannot hasten it along.  We cannot prevent it or assuage it.  There is absolutely nothing we can do but stand back and watch it happen. For most humans, this is easier said than done, if not downright impossible.  Unless we have sought this knowledge on our own, we have not learned how to deal with grief, let alone the death of an entire global system.  Neither have we been trained in how to let go – unless we have been one of the (un)fortunate ones who have had control ripped from our cold, dead, fingers.

So what do human beings do who don’t know how to let go – they seek to manipulate and control.  Hence the increasing chaos we see in our nation and therefore in the world. Human beings do not know how to die.

But there are ways that we can help each other in this dying.

  • We can begin to speak about the death of the global empire.
  • We can begin to acknowledge any fears or anxiety we might have around this death.
  • We can begin to transform those fears through meditation, mindfulness, depth and shadow work, healing practices and just the plain act of talking about it with each other.
  • We can acknowledge the faces of grief and become attentive to what face of that grief we are currently experiencing: shock, denial, bargaining, depression, anger, sorrow, acceptance.
  • In identifying the face of grief, then we can begin to work with that face of grief, bringing ourselves into the acknowledgement of our own sorrow over the dying and weep for what has been and will be lost.
  • We can try to hold our brothers and sisters in compassion, refraining from judgment in recognition of the grief they are perhaps not even aware they are facing.
  • We can hold each other in love.
  • While burying the dying system, we can pray for humanity’s healing.
  • We can look forward in hope for the new world that is already making itself known and which will fully emerge after the old world is put to rest.

Let it Burn!

Let it Burn!

Make no Mistake!

The world is burning itself to the ground.

The “fall of Rome” on a global scale.

The end of what was born of fear, power and control

on the backs of the poor

benefiting the powerful few.

An unsustainable model –

We have created our own demise.

Let it burn.

We cannot save it, nor should we try.

But we can grieve.

We can grieve the loss of the life we have known.

We can mourn over the certain carnage that will accompany this dying.

We can weep for the lives and innocence (ignorance) lost.

As we witness the revelation of

Every

Single

Evil

Humanity

Has

Heaped

Upon

Itself.

The truth is being laid bare for all to see.

We may try to deny it, (denial is a face of grief)

But it will continue to knock on the doors of our hearts

Until we are able to listen

And see

And feel sorrow

For those whose loss

has been another’s gain.

Will we be able to live with ourselves

After all the truths have come to light?

Will we be able to look our brother and sister in the eye?

Will we allow ourselves to feel the shame for

Every

Way

We

Have

Benefited

From

The

Denigration

Of

Others?

This is our moment of reckoning.

And we will decide if humanity survives to create a new world

Or

If

We

Will

Die.

The choice is simple

and the fate of humanity depends on this choice.

Continuing to choose separation guarantees our death.

Choosing Oneness will bring forth a whole new world.

What will you choose?

The Reapers Have Come

The Reapers Have Come

Copyright Lauri Ann Lumby

original art by Lauri Ann Lumby

The world as we have known it is dying.

The sorrow of the world rests like a weight on the surface of my skin.

The tears of the world threatening behind my eyes.

Like an anvil on my heart, the gravity of a world in pain

over what it does not know.

Kicking and screaming over “liberties lost”

Or cowering in the darkness hoping to escape death’s gaze.

We cannot run.

Neither can we hide.

The reapers have come to harvest what we have sown.

Poverty, injustice, hatred, intolerance, destruction of our planet, and war.

We’ve done this to ourselves.

There is no one else to blame for a tide that cannot be turned.

All we can do is let it run its course,

Cutting away all that no longer serves,

And burning it on the pyre of transformation.

Only then will the ground be cleared of the impediments to new life.

Seed that lay dormant beneath the ravages of man,

Awaiting the liberating flame, clearing the path for their return –

Bringing forth new life and the creation of

A whole new world.

Finding Peace in the Unknown

Good morning!  These are interesting times in which we are living and as an empath I am feeling it all.  This is what I posted on Facebook earlier this morning:

FRUSTRATION is the energy of the day. A night spent with dreams of frustration and woke up with an overwhelming external sense of frustration. This morning I prayed hard and will soon be returning to prayer to help loosen and free this energy – an energy that is not mine but is the current energy of our world. Humanity is unnecessarily fighting a battle against each other. There is literally nothing to fight against. To make it through the Covid-19 event, we have to simply let it be. Let it runs its course. Find our own peace in the midst of the external chaos. The only one we need to be concerned about is ourselves and our own peace. Find that peace and stay there. Once the chaos has completed its task the dust will settle and then we can begin to create our new world. In the meantime, let the chaos do its work of clearing the old to make way for the new.

Not only am I feeling this frustration on a global level, I am feeling it personally.  It’s not my frustration, but it is the inner conflict I am feeling as I stand in the middle between people I dearly love.  As it relates to Covid-19, the current conflict seems to be centered around:

Stay at Home vs. Return to Work

I have dear friends sitting at both ends of this spectrum.  Some are actively protesting the stay-at-home orders and want to see businesses back up and running.  Many of these are business owners themselves, so I get it.  On the other end of the spectrum are those I deeply love who are actively protesting “return to work.”  Many of these are considered seriously at-risk for not only contracting but dying from the virus.  So I get it.  The challenge with these opposing movements is that there is so much we do not know.  We are living in a state of complete unknown.

  • By staying at home are we simply delaying the inevitable?
  • Are we missing our opportunity to gain herd immunity?
  • If the original intention for the stay-at-home was to flatten the curve while also giving medical facilities an opportunity to gear up for what would eventually happen anyway and if the medical facilities are ready, does it make sense to stay at home?
  • Has the stay at home order simply been a government play to put us into a state of fear and to put us at their mercy?
  • Has the stay at home only provided an opportunity for those who created the virus to launch their vaccine (and God knows what might be in that vaccine?)?
  • Will returning to work put more people in danger?
  • Will millions of more people die because we returned to work too quickly?
  • Is it even safe for people to return to work?
  • If we return to work, how do we protect those who remain at serious risk?

The reality is that we have no idea the answer to any of these questions.  We don’t know what will happen when we return to work and we don’t know what will happen by continuing to stay at home. Meanwhile businesses are struggling and some will not survive the shutdown.  Government support has not been sufficient for many and has not been forthcoming for some.  Millions of people have contracted the virus and nearly 70,000 have died (in the U.S.). People are afraid.  And we do not know what we are looking at now, let alone in 2 years from now (when the CDC predicts this will finally be over).

We are living in a state of complete unknown.  Even that which is proclaimed as known one day changes the next.  We don’t know what information we are being given is true and what is made up.  We don’t know which conspiracy theory will prove true and which ones are simply false.  We don’t know which protests are real and which have been staged with paid actors to create an environment of fear.

The world has gone insane (or rather, the insanity that has always been there is simply coming forward into the light).  At the heart of this insanity are two things:

FEAR and GRIEF

People are afraid and have been made to be afraid.  On the outside, the fear is over the virus, but when we look deeper the fear is over our inability to control the unknown.

And beneath the fear of the unknown, is the even deeper fear which is the very real fear that arises in the face of death.  I’m not talking about the fear of dying from Covid-19 (though for many that fear is real).  Instead, I’m talking about an even bigger death.

Whether people are aware of this consciously or not, the world as we have known it is dying.  The world made out of fear, power and control is crashing down around our feet and in its dying, it is showing its hideous face.  And all this flailing about that we are currently witnessing in our world is the very real and human reaction to what we do not know or understand and that over which we have no control.

Herein lies the remedy to the current insanity we are experiencing: the world as we have known it is dying.  It has never been sustainable (except for the very very few).  Our best course of action is to stand back, get the heck out of the way, and let it burn.  We cannot control its death and we are hurting ourselves by trying.  For the sake of our own peace, we can acknowledge that there is too much we do not know while surrendering to the fact that we cannot control the old world in its dying.

And as the old world is dying, what if instead of creating opposing positions and fighting and arguing with each other over what we do not know and cannot control we came together in cooperation.  What if while the world is burning itself to the ground we came together (at a safe distance) in conversations around what we might begin building instead?

Let it Burn!

Don’t Miss the Deeper Messages of the Covid-19 Pandemic

For the past several years, I have spoken over and over and over again about the impending death of the patriarchal/hierarchical world – that which is rooted in fear, power and control.  I have known for years that something big was coming that would put a complete halt to our culture and our economy.  I also knew this something big would cause a stock market crash which would eventually lead to a complete global financial collapse (this is yet to come – though there may be some safeguards in place to prevent this).

I had no idea what form this “something big” might take, but here we are.  With the Covid-19 pandemic and the global reactions to it, we find ourselves exactly where I long ago saw us to be going.  As of this writing, globally 2.75 million have been diagnosed and 193,000 have died.  Borders have been closed. Airline travel has ceased.  Education has gone online if not cancelled.  Many business employees are working from home and online, and many businesses have closed entirely.

As we sit in the middle of the pandemic in a world uncertain about how best to respond to the pandemic caused by a virus for which we currently have no cure (other than our own immune system and its ability (or inability) to fight the virus, we are witness to a wide range of human reactions.  Fear. Panic.  Hysteria.  Anger. Blaming.  Shaming.  Condemning.  We are also experiencing an overwhelming amount of information and opinions about protection, prevention, and treatment.  Then there are the questions about when and how to open things up again.

It is easy to become overwhelmed, angry or afraid in the face of the externals related to Covid-19.  When we become fixated on these externals, however, we are missing what is REALLY happening underneath the panic and fear related to the pandemic.

What is REALLY happening, thanks in part to Covid-19, is that a new world is being born. Before that new world can fully emerge, what remains of the patriarchal/hierarchical world has to die.  In order to die, it must first make itself known.  Covid-19 is helping us to see everything that is wrong with our culture and with our world and what quite simply no longer works. In every single institution built on the foundations of fear, power and control, we are being given an opportunity to see – to really see what is no longer sustainable – if indeed it ever was.  Corruption, deception and injustices are being laid bare.  Leaders (and others) are showing their true faces as their fears (an inability to identify and transform their fears) come out sideways.

As the old world is collapsing, we are also being given an opportunity to experience and bear witness to new ways of being that might help to alleviate some of the problems of the dying world. We are also being given a chance to ask some really important questions:

Mercy for the Dying World

The world as we have known it is dying.  After 5000+ years of patriarchal reign, the world built on fear, power and control is imploding upon itself.   The symptoms of this death are everywhere to be seen by those who have eyes to see – increasing prejudice, hatred and divisiveness, a rapidly growing gap between those who have and those who have not, increasing violence, rampant corruption, greed, gluttony, over consumption and the most obvious of all symptoms – the revelation of deceit.  The veil has been torn away and we are able to see clearly all the lies we’ve been told and the deceptions that have been played – all for the sake of power and control. Playing out on a global scale, the world as we have known it is dying and the death the symptoms of this death are evident in every single hierarchical institution created by man – religion, government, corporations, banking, healthcare, and education.

While the dying out of the old system is global, it is playing out in our own little worlds as well. In the tiny little town of Oshkosh, Wisconsin where I reside, for example, the death of the current educational system is happening in real time. Underfunded and over-challenged, our tiny little community is trying to figure out how to get blood from a turnip and (as always) it will be the vulnerable among us who will suffer.  Those with means will always find a way to coerce an outcome favorable to them and have the available resources for navigating change.  The same is not true for the poor or for the otherwise vulnerable (powerless) in our community.  As a social justice advocate, I find myself in the throes of “the battle” while simultaneously understanding that what we are experiencing in Oshkosh is simply a microcosm of the macrocosm and another symptom of a dying world.  We can do our best to support the needs of the vulnerable (ie: protect our children and the teachers who are trying to serve them), but we cannot prevent the system’s inevitable death.

Yes.  Death is inevitable.  By its design, the systems of fear, power and control that rule our world are unsustainable and after 5000 years, we have reached that point of critical mass.  It is time for the house of cards to fall – and falling it is.  If you want to see the fall playing out in real time, just watch a few minutes of the impeachment hearings (rolling my eyeballs out of my head!). Our dying systems cannot be saved.  As is true of all life forms, there comes a point where death is not only inevitable, it becomes an act of mercy.

In the face of these deaths, mercy is our calling.  We can be witness to the dying world, but we cannot save it.  Any attempts to do so would only prolong the suffering. We can be hospice for the dying – offering comfort, counsel, a listening ear and a compassionate heart as the dying struggle through their fears and their attachment to what has been.  We can also be hope for the dying – offering a vision of a new world that is not yet known. We can be promise for the dying – assuring them that in every death is the promise of new life.  Our final act of mercy will be sitting vigil with the dying institutions while those who are here to build the new world are finally free to complete the task they came here to perform, no longer hindered by the weight of a dying world.

It’s Time to Awaken Out of Our Collective Paralysis

From the day that Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, my business took a HUGE hit.  Seemingly overnight, my business went from somewhat sustainable to me having to get a part-time “real” job.  When it would seem as if the opposite should be true – that people would be clamoring to my door in search of support, they have not.  Instead, it seems that those who were looking forward to more of the same in Hilary or Bernie retreated into their respective hidey-holes.  In shock and afraid, instead of coming forward in support of their desire for a new world, they beat a loud retreat.  Screaming from their half-opened door all they hate about Donald Trump and the “conservative regime,” while doing little to bring forth the new world they say they want.

Admittedly, I was initially one of those people.  But after giving myself over to the shock, I went deep within myself for an answer to my quandary – “How and why did this happen?”   The answer came quickly and clearly, and for this I must offer a heart-felt thank you to all those who supported the Republican platform by voting for Trump.  In clear and concise terms, I was told that Donald Trump was elected so that he could fulfill his mission as “Angel of Death” (Cue Prince of Egypt).  Again, I offer a heart-felt thank you for those who have supported Donald Trump because since the moment he took office the veil has been parted, revealing one shadow after another after another of the dying world.  From political corruption to child sex trafficking, to #MeToo, to corporate corruption, to inequalities in taxation, to the system that supports the rich getting richer on the backs of the poor, to corporate enslavement to the racism, sexism, nationalism, prejudice, and pride that seems to run our nation and its capitalistic agenda.

While I personally find Donald Trump to be a despicable human being, I can see beyond the person, the shock and the trauma into the higher purpose of his presidency.  If ever given a chance, I would personally thank him for what he has done to show us the shadow of Western culture.  In short – WE SUCK!  In our relentless pursuit of wealth, power and fame, we are destroying our world.  I could go on and on and one about all the ways this has shown itself to be true, but if you’ve read this far, you know how this has shown itself and this is NOT the point of my post.

The point is that Donald Trump has accomplished his mission.

NOW IT IS TIME FOR US TO AWAKEN OUT OF OUR COLLECTIVE PARALYSIS

…and get to work building the new world!

But first some words of comfort:

Building a new world does not mean anarchy;

Neither does it require revolution – not of a violent kind anyway.

I will add, however, that the extent to which we are uncomfortable or afraid of the new world is proportional to how much we are clinging to what we know and to what we have believed would sustain us.  This is true for conservatives, progressives, and liberals alike.  What is true in the natural world is true for us – In order to bring forth the new, something must to die – and that death is likely to be something we have made familiar and in which we have placed our beliefs (like the caterpillar before died to become the butterfly). Grief is assured as we let go of the old to make way for the new, and I (and many others like me) am here to help support you as you let go of that which no longer serves to help make way for the new.

But back to the original message.  If we say we want change in our world.  If we believe it is time for the old to pass away to make way for the new.  Then it is time for us to WAKE UP out of our paralysis and get to work.  But, here’s the deal:

Building the new world has NOTHING to do with what is “out there.”

and

Building the new world is 100% an inside job!

We cannot bring forth the new world that we yearn for in our collective souls without first anchoring that world within ourselves – and that is no easy task.  It requires that we, like our nation/world, pull back the veil of all that we have hidden from ourselves:

  • Our fears.
  • Our wounds.
  • Our past traumas.
  • Our privilege.
  • The true source of our comfort.
  • And everything within and outside of us that separates us from others (conditioning).

Then we have to FEEL the reality of this separation.  We must feel and face our fears, our wounds, and our traumas and bring them into the cauldron of transformation that resides within us.  We must be willing to be freed of these fears, etc. and the “benefits” we get from remaining in that fear.  Then we are required to identify all the ways in which we benefit from a culture of separation and “let that shit go.” All of this is easier said than done which is why in the past, very few have been up to that task.  But, if we are serious about wanting a new world and wanting to be part of bringing that forth, unless we do this deep, inner work, WE WILL FAIL.  Period.

But this time we do not need to fail.  We have the tools, the resources and access to the ancient teachings which support us in healing from the wound of separation so that we can once again live in the world as it was meant to be:

Who is with me?

It’s Loathsome and Hideous, Yet I Can’t Look Away

It’s Loathsome and Hideous, Yet I Can’t Look Away

These immortal words from the TV series Seinfeld, perfectly sum up the times we are in and the greatest temptation for those of us who are here to build the new world.

We live in a time when everything around us seems to be in conflict.  Everything we thought we knew about our world and the perceived security it claimed to provide is falling around us.  In the U.S. we have become a nation divided within a world divided….and we seem to somehow be the cause of that global division.  The world around us no longer makes sense – if it ever did, and the people around us have most definitely stopped making sense.  (cue David Byrne)

We are living in one of the most magnificent times in the history of human beings – both from the perspective of devastation and from the place of promise.  The shadows have all come out to play.  That which we have ignored, denied, shoved under the rug – have all made themselves loudly known.  Racism.  Sexism.  Classism. Privilege.  Nationalism.  The sins of unbridled Capitalism. The sexual crimes of men in power. The sins of the power elite (who is really the cause of global and domestic terrorism?????  Hmmmmm???)  The nature of the beast is as hideous as it is captivating.  As veil upon veil upon veil gets torn away and the views become increasingly disturbing, one is tempted to want to go into battle, or simply collapse in despair.  To some, there is no hope as the truths of our world prove to be increasingly horrific.  The world “out there” has become like a runaway train or a 40-car pileup – it is terrifying to behold, and yet we cannot look away.

The greatest temptation as we view the world hurling itself toward its own destruction is to rush in to try to save it.  But we cannot.  Neither should we try.  The world built on fear, power and control is imploding upon itself and THANK GODDESS!  It is long past time for the world of fear, power and control ruled by rich white men to come to its natural end.  Unbridled pride, gluttony, greed, vengeance, jealousy (competition), hatred and ignorance are and have proven themselves to be unsustainable to anyone other than those who are holding the gold.  What the gold-bearers have not yet realized, however, is that in destroying the world they will inevitably be destroying themselves.  (But maybe, they are that selfish and that short-sighted.)

The truth that is coming to bear is that an unsustainable system will eventually collapse upon itself.  This is EXACTLY what we are currently witnessing in our world, and there is nothing we can do to stop it.  Its life has come to its natural end, making room for a new world to be born out of the ash. For that new world to be born, we need to STOP engaging with the old and dying world.  We need to allow the shriveled, whimpering Voldemort to die his own peaceful death.

In other words, “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.”  As the dying world continues to vie for our attention, we are distracted from the purpose we came here to fulfill.  We are not here to save the dying world.  We are here to build something new.  That something new is happening right here in our very midst (look at what the young people are doing) and we are each here to play our own role in the creation of something new.  When we engage in or with the dying world, try to make sense of what is happening “out there” or try to convince others of our cause, we are distracted from the task we came here to complete.  We cannot build our new world when drawn in by the moans of the dying world, neither can we care for ourselves when administering aid to that which cannot be saved.  As harsh as this may sound, it is our job to let it die, and if that means covering our ears to the death wails and covering our eyes to the death and devastation, then so be it.  (This does not mean we cease from doing our part to care for the casualties of a world at war with itself.  It is still our job to advocate for the voiceless and to support the needs of the choiceless.  Let love be your guide.) Like a spoiled rotten child, the dying world will do everything in its power to keep us in their drama.  Just say no.

Discipline.  Persistence.  Tenacity. Let these words be our mantra as we do everything in our power to keep ourselves free of the magnetic drama of the world destroying itself so that we can tend to what we are really here for – to build a WHOLE (rooted in union, harmony, peace, collaboration, compassion and love) new world.
