Poetry and Art Part IV

Today we conclude our exploration of poetry and art.  I want to offer a profound prayer of gratitude and BLESSING to Catherine E. Case for sharing her art here.  I also want to thank my life for providing the inspiration for the poetry shared here and which is part of my upcoming book, Returning – a woman’s midlife journey to herself.

Truth Beyond the Words

I’ve heard it in your voice,
The tightly strained constriction
Choking on your deceit
The voice that says to me,
“I’m hiding something.”
Behind that voice I see the truth
Lying naked in your bed
Sitting beside you on the couch
Gazing into your eyes in innocent ignorance
Enraptured by your seduction.
I’m not that stupid.
Have you learned nothing of my gift?
Or have you simply forgotten –
Choosing to ignore the fact
that in my presence, none can deceive.
For I always hear
The truth beyond the words.
