  1. Too much anthropomorphism for me….both “him” and “her.” I prefer to think of God as Spirit or Love or even “the Force.”

    1. BJ,
I totally agree, the Divine cannot be contained in either male or female or any human-like imagery. The Divine is limitless and beyond our description or understanding. I do, however, find that for some (me included), it is sometimes helpful to imagine the Divine in human-like terms so that we can envision a deeply intimate and personal relationship with that which we sometimes call God. I also see benefit, in a world that has been dominated by male-only images of the Divine to explore the feminine side of things and for those raised in the Judeo-Christian tradition, it might be helpful to learn that Judaism (and hence, Christianity) wasn’t as patriarchal as we have been led to believe. It is all part and parcel of our human search to connect with something larger than ourselves. And in the end, I prefer the blessing, “May the Force be With You!” ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for opening up the discussion!
