The focus this week has been on truth – exploring truth, recognizing truth, the consequences of suppressed truth, etc. Today, I feel called to tend to the acknowledgment of truth unfolding.
Today I am going to borrow an image from the esoteric schools of thought. In these schools, there is a discernment tool that uses an image called “The Wheel of Fortune”. The Wheel of Fortune represents the unseen hand of the Divine, leading us, guiding us, urging us toward our highest good and our highest truth. This wheel is turning invisibly beneath us, carrying us on toward our ultimate destination. While we may resist the freeflowing turning of this wheel, in the end, we will eventually get to our destination – the return to our original state of Oneness with God. Now, we can choose to surrender to the free-flowing movement of this wheel and arrive at our destination sooner, rather than later, or we can resist this movement and arrive later rather than sooner. For the most resistant of us, we may not return to this original state in this life at all…..but we will get there eventually.
How do we know if we have surrendered to this free-flowing wheel of fortune and are moving toward our highest good? We shall know this by the effort we must exert in our life. If life is a struggle and every forward movement seems frought with challenge, obstacles, resistance, then in most likelihood, we are resisting the wheel of fortune. When we move through our journey from a place of peaceful contentment and everything we need seems to simply fall into our lap, and every door seems to open before us, then we have surrendered to the wheel and are allowing ourselves to be open to the Divine guidance that only leads us toward truth and our highest good. That is not to say that life will suddenly become a piece of cake…..there will be moments where we are called to step into our truth and this often requires a release of that which is no longer life giving and that can bring forth grief as well as the resistance or judgment of others. However, when we have surrendered to the wheel of fortune, we find these moments of truth claiming to be less effort than we imagined they would be and we find the grace we need to embrace these truths and the freedom to do so without attachment to other people’s approval. This frees us to embrace these truths from a place of peacefulness and calm.
So, if you are finding your life filled with resistance, struggle and the path littered with obstacles, then perhaps you are resisting the wheel of fortune. The invitation is to jump on the wheel and allow it to carry you to your highest good…..AND to trust that it is taking place in the exact way that it needs to in perfect timing – again, for your highest good. And, while you are at it…….enjoy the ride!
